°½ c. cacao

°Half a cup of starch

°3 egg yolks

°1 ½ c. Sugar

°¼ tsp. salt

°2 c. milk

°1 tsp. vanilla


This recipe does not contain meringue. You can make meringues if you like.

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
2. In a large saucepan, combine the cocoa, sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
3. Gradually stir in milk until mixture is smooth.
4. Heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.
5. Remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla extract. Pour mixture into pie shell.
6. Bake for 25 minutes. Serve immediately.
